Lionel Messi joins PSG on a 2-year deal: Official

Lionel Messi has agreed a deal with PSG who announced the signing on their social media handles. He has agreed to a 2 years contract with the Paris side which will earn him a whopping €35 million per year. His contract also includes an option to extend for a further year which means Messi could be at PSG till 2024. Messi has been a lifelong FC Barcelona player from 2004 till 2021.

Messi will fly to Paris today for Medicals and contract signing. He had said his goodbyes to FC Barcelona and his teammates 2 days ago. He had hinted at a move to PSG with other clubs also lining up to sign the Argentine. However, PSG were leading the race to sign the all-time great and now have converted the deal.Messi is all set to be unveiled by PSG after he signs his contract.

Messi’s 21 Year Old Career at Barcelona comes to an End

Messi had an illustrious career expanding 21 years at FC Barcelona. PSG will be his second club in international club football history. Messi was a product of La Masia, the youth academy of FC Barcelona from where he made it into the first team. He was scouted from Argentina aged 13 years old in the year 2000. He made his professional debut in 2004 for FC Barcelona.

An illustrious career of Messi includes 10 La Liga titles, 4 UEFA Champions League titles, 7 Copa Del Rey and 6 ballon d’Or. He also holds the record for most goals (474) and most assists (192) in La Liga. Messi scored 120 Champions League goals for FC Barcelona which is only second to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 134 career goals.
