RB Leipzig have confirmed the signing of talented Portuguese striker Andre Silva on a five year contract from league rivals Eintracht Frankfurt.
RB Leipzig were looking to bolster their forward line after losing their talisman Timon Werner to Chelsea last season, and Andre Silva would be likely be a crucial addition to their team.

Andre Silva will be signing a 5 year contract with RB Leipzig, that will be running until 2026, and his medicals is to be completed in short time. Silva is expected to join his new team after his vacation in mid-July and then start preparing for the upcoming season.
Andre Silva has scored 40 goals in 59 Bundesliga appearances during his stint with Eintracht Frankfurt since 2019, and would be more than the replacement of Werner that Leipzig were desperately seeking, with RB Leipzig payed a fee of €35 million for the Portuguese.
Silva has found the net 28 times in 32 games with Frankfurt last season, and would look to continue with his good form the next season too, accustomed and we’ll suited to the Bundesliga style of play.
Silva, who was with the Portugal squad in the Euros and featured as a substitute regularly, looked happy signing for his new club and further stated that he joined Leipzig with an ambition to play Champions League football.
“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge at RB Leipzig. The club has great ambitions and goals and I want to help achieve them – especially with as many goals as possible, of course. I really want to play at the highest level and that means Champions League. In Leipzig I have the chance to be permanently in the premier class.” Silva said in his interview to Leipzig, after signing his new contract.
“The people in charge at RBL were quickly able to convince me with the vision of the club and, above all, the game philosophy and even if I have to go on vacation first, I’m already extremely hot for the new season with the Red Bulls.” added Silva.
“I would like to thank Eintracht Frankfurt very much. I had two great and successful years at Eintracht and I was able to develop very well.” Silva left his former club a thank you note.
Eintracht Frankfurt will be securing the services Rafael Santos Borré soon, who will be Silva’s replacement at the club, joining them as a free agent on a four year contract.
