British Canoeists to retain their spots for rescheduled 2020 Olympics

On Thursday, British canoeing said that 5 British canoeists, who were selected for the postponed Tokyo Olympics, will keep their spots on the team for the rescheduled event next year. Besides, Liam Heath, who won a silver medal in K1 200m in Rio will be competing in his third Olympics.

David Joy, CEO of British canoeing said about this that “I am pleased that British canoeing has decided to reconfirm the nomination to the BOA of the give athletes previously selected to represent Team GB at 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.”

Four of the canoe slalomists have already being selected and going to make their debuts, those are- Mallory Franklin, Kimberley Woods, Adam Burgess and Bradley Forbes Cryans.

This decision have been taken while keeping all the policies and values of British canoeing that the athletes were already being selected for Olympic games in Tokyo through a transparent process and it will be right that there selection should remain.

This year’s Olympic has been postponed due to The Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic, which has now infected around 1.5 million people worldwide.
