In the offseason, Caitlin Clark was preparing to elevate her game to the next level. All the workouts and rest were intentional, as her focus was squarely on the WNBA and the Indiana Fever’s fight for a championship.

With 30% of the regular season left to play, there is no sign of her return from injury. Thankfully, the Fever has been winning games as she sits on the bench. That became fuel for some critics to claim that the team is better without her.

Even though Fever head coach Stephanie White clarified that the team will become that much more dangerous with their superstar point guard on the court, those critics have not changed their rhetoric.

One of them happens to be former NBA champion Jeff Teague. He claimed, while on his Club 520 Podcast, that even though he agrees that Caitlin Clark is a good basketball player, she is ‘not that good.’

He has even jumped onto the bandwagon that claims that the Fever is playing better without her. These comments came to the attention of Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, who had a reply ready while on the Big 3 podcast.

I don’t agree with Jeff Teague, who I read something said that, ‘Caitlin Clark is just a good player, she’s not a great player.’ Jeff, I love you, but you weren’t a great player. You were serviceable.

Nancy Lieberman said

Her co-panelists, Michael Beasley and Chris Haynes, broke out laughing after listening to Lieberman’s response. The 1v1 star agreed that Teague was speaking out of his mind when claiming Clark was not a great player.

Fans left in splits after Jeff Teague gets roasted for Caitlin Clark Diss

Ever since Jeff Teague started his podcast, many basketball fans have taken an interest in it, as he comes up with some of the best stories. Of late, that has changed to an effort to go viral. His claims about LeBron James‘ substance usage backfired. Then this opinion about Caitlin Clark.

Both these claims might have led to an increase in responses and clicks. At the same time, he has had to face the flip side of it. In James’ case, fans started threatening him, which forced him to issue an apology.

In Clark’s situation, fans expected the former NBA champion to face some heat. But no one expected a Hall of Fame women’s basketball player to roast Teague in this manner.

Fans did not expect her to go straight at his career, undermining the very thing that makes him relevant in the ever-increasing podcast space. Fans loved this roast and took to social media to celebrate this. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Jeff Teague might come out with a response, as he generally tends to do in a light-hearted manner. But he might not have expected a senior respected figure in the basketball space to come at him this way.

Caitlin Clark might take a bit more time to reply to Jeff Teague’s criticism

Caitlin Clark is still in the process of recovering from her 2nd groin injury. The Indiana Fever are taking their time as they assess her health on a day-to-day basis. Earlier today, the squad was practicing in Phoenix.

Pictures and videos from the practice show the 23-year-old wearing full sweats, unlike her teammates, who were in shorts and practice t-shirts. That confirms that the point guard is nowhere close to returning anytime soon.

There were reports of Clark performing sprints, but she is not cleared to practice with a basketball. All of these signs indicate that the Fever is not going to bring her back into the fold for the next few games.

Whenever she chooses to return, she will need a handful of games to get up to speed. Then Caitlin Clark will get the opportunity to show Jeff Teague how good she is with the basketball in her hands.
