We are just a day away from Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders. The fight will be taking place at the AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys in front of a record-breaking crowd of 70000 fans. Alvarez and BJS’ promoter Eddie Hearn was elated to announce the news of so many fans set to witness an event for the first time since the pandemic began.
With the fight on Saturday, the 8th of May, Saunders and Alvarez had their staredown. This was the final face-to-face before their title unification bout for Saunders’ WBO title, and Álvarez’s WBA (Super), WBC and The Ring titles. Promoter Eddie Hearn was present as both the fighters were surrounded by a number of members of their respective entourages.
Canelo refuses to back down!
Dressed in green trousers Alvarez looked calm and collected as he stared into the red shorts-attired Billy Joe Saunders. After a while, the pair separated, not before Alvarez kept staring right into the soul of BJS.
And then both the fighters held their respective titles aloft, as BJS seemed to indicate that he would emerge victorious tomorrow. Both the fighters are coming off victories. BJS beat fellow Englishman Martin Murray in 2020 December, while Canelo Alvarez made quick work of Turk, Avni Yildrim just a couple of months ago.
It is worthy to mention that Saunders is still undefeated in his professional boxing career, winning all 30 of his fights.
