Condit returns to the octagon at UFC Fight Island, and he revealed that his contract with UFC is going to expire after this fight. He did not disclose any information on whether he is going to be a free agent after this fight or is UFC going to renew his contract, but we can guess that a lot depends on his performance in this fight.

Even after competing in the UFC for so long “The Natural Born Killer” acknowledges the pressure that comes along moving in this fight. During his interview with MMA Fighting on Fight Island 7 media day, he said “All of this is a gamble. We get to ante up against another guy and put everything on the line and the winner takes all. That’s the beauty of it. That’s the thrill of all this sh*t, even more so when you’re up for a new contract.”

Condit has been a part of the roster since 2009 and he spent most of his career positioned at the top of the welterweight division over the past 11 years and he’s been involved in a trio of title fights ever since.

Condit realizes his performance has not been stellar over the past years. This has not been the best period of his career. But he is planning to turn the picture around pretty soon, if he proves his worth against Brown then maybe UFC would renew his contract and he can make one last title run.

He is interested in fighting Nick Diaz. He understands the threat in fighting one of the top guys but he is attracted by the money incentive, he stated “Part of me wants to test myself against any other guy in the division. Part of me wants—probably the bigger part of me wants the bigger money fights,” Condit said. “The fights that there’s a lot of hype around. I’d like a rematch maybe against Nick Diaz if he comes back, something like that.

“There’s a lot of hype behind Nick even though he hasn’t fought in a long time. I’d imagine he’d want that fight. I guess that was somewhat of a controversial decision even though it was a unanimous decision and I feel like I won the fight but a lot of people don’t think so.”
