Caroline Wozniacki to step out of retirement for one ‘Last Epic Battle’ against Serena Williams!

The former World No.1, Caroline Wozniacki, became a Grand Slam champion when she lifted the Australian Open title in 2018. She is the first woman from a Scandinavian country to climb to atop the ranks on the WTA Tour. At the Australian Open 2020, Wozniacki bid the sport adieu after she lost against Ons Jabeur in the Round of 32. 

To honour her career, Caroline had arranged to contend in an exhibition match against her good friend, and the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams. The players have a head-to-head record of 10-1, which favour’s the American. They were scheduled to battle on May 18, 2020, but due to the unprecedented spread of Covid-19, couldn’t.

Tennis enthusiasts were left disappointed as the event didn’t come to fruition. Further, this match was titled “The Final One,” and was to take place in Denmark. However, Caroline announced of the event’s postponement and wrote, “the safety and health of everyone is most important.”

Wozniacki recently released a video wherein, she confirmed that the event will take place in 2021. The video was released by her management agency, ‘f Sports Group ApS.’

This announcement stated, “It is a huge puzzle. That must go up in a higher unit. But we can assure you that we will continue to work. At high pressure to be able to announce a date in the near future.”

“As promised, all ticket buyers will again have the opportunity to have their tickets refunded when announcing a new date. Of course, we hope that as many as possible continue to want to pay tribute to two of the world’s biggest sports stars,” it further added. 

While a final date is yet to be set, Wozniacki’s supporters across the board are ecstatic to learn that this event will move forward in 2021.
