Cathy Chau Hoi Wah announces her retirement, signs up as a coach

The Hong Kong mixed doubles player Cathy Chau Hoi Wah has announced her retirement from Badminton. She was former Asian mixed doubles champion. Cathy said that she has played enough badminton in her 15 year career. The Hong Kong player had started her career at the age of 19.
Her biggest achievement was the mixed gold she won at the 2014 Badminton Asia championship in South Korea with Lee Chun Hei. The duo were first from Hong Kong to win gold at the continental event. The duo also struck bronze at 2017 World.
The duo enjoyed reached the world ranking of sixth in the world. It was their career high. Besides, the duo also won Australian Open in 2015 to become the first Hong Kong Paor to win a mixed Superseries title

However, Cathy has now announced her retirement. She said, “I knew I would retire one day, and I’d planned it too, I’d talked it over with my family and coaches,” Cathy said that handing the form was quite touching.
The former Asian champion said that she was not sad about retiring but just a bit nostalgic. She added, “I’m happy for my achievements…Thankfully, I’m retiring without regret.”
Cathy has now signed up as a coach at Mandarin Badminton Club in Toronto. About becoming a coach, she said, “I’m very excited, and nervous as well.”
