Cayo Perico door glitch patched in GTA 5 new DLC

The Cayo Perico Heist was added to GTA 5 back in December of 2020 and quickly became the single best way to make money in GTA 5. It featured a traditional approach to heists similar to the Casino Heist with multiple entry and exit points with secondary targets. The biggest advantage to the Cayo Perico Heist was that it could be done solo. Players quickly figured out a way to exploit a glitch while doing the Heist solo for maximum payout. This glitch got patched in the GTA 5 new DLC.

The Cayo Perico Heist featured a primary target which was necessary to steal and then multiple secondary targets scattered around the Cayo Perico Island. This loot was optional and could only be looted if the player had empty space in the loot bag. Some of these secondary targets were hidden behind locked doors which couldn’t be unlocked solo but only if the heist was done with more than just one player. These doors required the players to loot keycards and place them at the lock simultaneously to open.

These secondary targets contained valuable loot such as paintings and gold. When stolen, these could easily be worth over 2 million GTA dollars. Since these could only be obtained by two players, it was balanced as the second player too would get a share from the looted valuables. Players who played the heist solo, however, found a way to exploit a glitch that would let them loot these secondary targets and have all the share for themselves.

The glitch required a player to take cover by one of these doors, place the character’s head at a specific position, set the camera according to the character’s position at head level, and then move sideways and aim at the same time. Open doing this, the door would glitch out and open thus giving access to the room which can only be accessed by two players.

Solo players exploited this glitch to loot the valuables for themselves and made a lot of money in less time. Rockstar Games patched this glitch in the latest DLC. The glitch cannot be done anymore and players are looking for new ways to recreate the glitch after the Los Santos Tuners Update.

Although the patch blocked a good way to make money, it was important for the overall economy and health of the game. If not patched players could easily exploit it and purchase even expensive vehicles, properties and businesses easily, thus lowering the value of those items and causing the existing economy of the game to crash.
