Thiago Silva has come into the team and guided the inexperienced youngsters to become better versions of themselves, while also stabilizing a leaky defense

Chelsea signed experienced centre-back Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain for the 2020/21 season. Their defense had been leaking in goals at regular intervals in the previous season and the signing of Thiago Silva was meant to plug the gaps. Thiago Silva has done just that as he has brought back stability to the Chelsea defense and also leadership at the back. Now the Chelsea management seek to renew his contract and keep him for the future.

Chelsea signed the 36 year old on a 1 year contract from Paris Saint Germain

Paris Saint Germain released Thiago Silva after his contract ended and the Brazilian centre-back didn’t have his contract renewed. Frank Lampard was manager when Chelsea went out and signed the 36 year old on a 1 year contract. It is a fairly obvious choice on why the Blues signed him on just a 1 year contract as Silva was 36 years old. Not everyone can acclimate to the intensity of the Premier League at the age. However Thiago Silva has brought his A-game to Chelsea and took little to no time to get adapted to the league.

Chelsea are now more stable at the back and also have a leader alongside Cesar Azpilicueta in defense who could inspire the youngsters. Youngsters like Reece James and Kurt Zouma could take notes from Azpilicueta and Silva respectively and become better players. As in such, Chelsea will sit down sooner or later with Thiago Silva’s representatives to extend his stay with them.
