However, due to a rise in the Covid cases in UK, many countries have imposed a travel ban on UK residents. Spain have now extended the ban for a third time. This implies flights from the UK will not be allowed unless they are carrying Spanish nationals or residents.

Manchester United will travel to Turin for their match against Real Sociedad

Atletico Madrid knew of these complications and were looking for a substitute venue for the fixture. The Spanish side wanted Bucharest or Warsaw to be the potential venues for the fixture, and now Bucharest has been finalized.

“Our club has agreed the change of venue — date and time remained unchanged — with UEFA,” Atletico Madrid said in a statement.

“Given the impossibility for the English team to travel to Spain, Atletico Madrid has been looking for alternatives during the last few days, taking into account factors such as access to the country, availability of facilities, stadiums and the situation of the pandemic.”

Chelsea also confirmed the same on their official website. The pandemic has resulted in games been moved from certain places. Recently, Liverpool’s away fixture against RB Leipzig was moved out of Germany due to similar restrictions in Germany. Liverpool will now take on Leipzig in Budapest.

Manchester United’s Europa league tie against Real Sociedad will now be hosted at Turin instead of San Sebastian. Both of Manchester City and Arsenal’s European ties were also moved out of their initial locations due to bans on UK flights in other European countries.
