After a great bubble game last season, the Phoenix Suns have continued to impress in this season as well. The team acquired veteran player Chris Paul out of Oklahoma City Thunder this season and he is one of the reason Phoenix Suns have not looked back. After a steady start, the team went in an unbeaten run and now seeds itself at #2 position in the Western Conference. With 42 wins already this season, they are one of the top contenders for the title under the veteran leadership of Chris Paul. The point guard has added the necessary momentum to the team. Recently, franchise star Devin Booker opened up about Chris Paul’s impact on him and his deserving MVP contention.
Chris Paul has been the driving force at the Suns. He is doing the exactthing that LeBron James did for the Lakers. Paul is setting up perfect plays for the easy scoring option. With high assists rate, he has now become the 5th in the All-Time list surpassing the legendary Magic Johnson. The Suns loss today was very unfortunate. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving dropped 34 and 33 points respectively. Their win was huge, but so was Chris Paul’s performance. He scored 14-points and had 8 assists to go with it. He has proved time and again that he is capable to uplift the team even in their worst times.
Devin Booker talks of Chris Paul’s impeccable abilities
Chris Paul might be short in height but has lengths of guts in himself. He is another player who can make the defenders dance to his ball handles. Devin Booker recently spoke of Chris Paul’s abilities in an interview. He said, “I remember we’re talking about the playoffs and Chris yelled out in the locker room. He was like, ‘16 teams make the playoffs, I think we’re going for it’. His energy and his passion behind that statement, I was like, oh yeah, we’re on the same page.”
Devin was much moved by the motivation Chris brings to the side. He added, “The iron sharpens iron mentality. Chris is not gonna take a day off, he is not gonna take the possession off. I’m inspired by him in so many different ways. This man just passed Magic Johnson on the all-time.” Last time the Suns made great efforts in playoffs was in 2010. Can the team under Chris Paul make it to the title this season? Can Chris Paul inch towards the MVP title this season?
