The UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is going to face Jorge Masvidal in a rematch at UFC 261. When this fight was announced this left the former interim champion, Colby Covington, in jeopardy that even being at number one spot in the rankings he is left out of the title picture.

But in his latest interview with TSN, the UFC president Dana White indicated that Colby Covington can get the title shot after UFC 261 and it looks like ‘Chaos’s’ wait is about to pay off.

Dana White says, “He’s (Usman) at a point in his career now where he’s looking at, ‘Who’s next again? He’s coming back and gonna be facing guys that he’s already beat. So Masvidal obviously took that fight on short notice, so let’s give him this fight and we can do away with all the excuses. And then, Colby Covington’s next.” {H/T MMA Junkie}

Colby Covington is one of those fighters who gave the hardest time inside the Octagon to the champion Kamaru Usman and in their match on one of the judge’s scorecards he was ahead on 3-1 before Usman finally knocked him out in the 5th round.

Although, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ already said that he isn’t interested in a rematch with Covington until he shows him some activity and he is ready to fight the winner of Leon Edwards vs Nate Diaz. But Dana White still praised Covington.

He continued, “The fight with him and Colby Covington is one of the best I’ve ever seen, Colby Covington, love him or hate him or whatever your deal is with him, is one of the best fighters in the world.”

“He’s a very, very good fighter, and that fight was incredible, and both guys had to dig deep in that fight. It’s one of the best fights I’ve ever seen, ever. Who knows? Anything can happen. Guys get injured, things happen, timing. Who knows, especially in this day and age? But that should be the fight that happens next.”{H/T MMA Junkie}
