With just over 2 months to go to, the Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton contract has not reached any conclusion. As per the latest reports the conclusion to this saga is not imminent yet. It seems like with the new speculations in the air, it leads Mercedes now having only few options at their disposal. The latest report shows that both parties have been in talks for some weeks now. But as of now there is still 1 seat vacant on the F1 grid.

Although Hamilton should occupy that seat, but nothing seems quite obvious as it seems. Th report claims that Mercedes has put a one-year deal on the table. Whereas the 7-time Champion might want a multi-year deal. This could be sole reason why the concerned parties have still been only verbal with one another.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes contract saga

A report by the Press Association as quoted by PlanetF1 states, “It is understood both parties have been in dialogue in recent weeks, and although discussions are progressing, a conclusion to the saga is not imminent.”

“Mercedes are confident Hamilton, awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honours list, will extend his stay with the sport’s all-conquering team.”

“But the length of his new contract is under scrutiny, with reports the record-breaking Briton has been offered only a one-year deal.”

Only missed opportunities at Sakhir and Abu Dhabi prevented Hamilton from securing a tally of 13 wins in a season. But it only goes to show how good of a racing legend the Briton has become since joining F1.

The title win meant he equaled the mighty Michael Schumacher’s record for championships with seven. But as time goes by, let’s hope we get a positive news soon.
