As UFC 251 ended last saturday, MMA fans are now looking forward to UFC 252 where another historic fight will take place. Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier will collide inside the octagon for the third and almost last time as Cornier is set to retire.
There is a lot of animosity between the two and the series between the two has been highly-contested and talked about bouts in the history of UFC. Now, when their third and likely last fight is coming next month, the fight is surely going to be the ‘biggest legacy fight in UFC history.’ UFC wrote on the same, “This is the fight to settle it all.”
Both the fighters are the best heavyweights in the UFC who have stepped inside an octagon. In the past there have been several big fights in the MMA world but none has been able to replace the hype and hoopla that the fight between the two has. One reason behind this excessive excitement is the gap between between the fights.
We have seen that sometimes fighters have to pass multiple roadblocks to get paired up. But this is not the case with Miocic vs Cormier. The two matches they played in 2018 and 2019, both were in their prime time at that time. And now when the third bout comes, both are again at the top of their game.
Daniel Cormier recently said in an interview that his fight against Miocic was going to be his swansong. Cornier, who is also a firmer Olympian, will be looking to end his career by winning the UFC Heavyweight Championship and thus becoming the second active champion while retiring after Henry Cejudo.
Daniel Cormier is counted among one of the greatest to have ever stepped inside an octagon. Besides being a world class wrestler, he is one of the most well-rounded athletes in UFC today and has a near perfect record in the cage.
Daniel was undefeated as Heavyweight champion in 2019 before Miocic defeated him. It was the first loss of Daniel in the Division. Now Cormier has a chance to wipe out this fit on his shirt as Heavyweight champion. If he wins, he will have the title of ‘ The Greatest Heavyweight Champion in UFC History’.
Miocic also has the chance to strengthen his status as the greatest Heavyweight in the history of UFC. He has successfully defended his title three times and has earned the title of ‘The Greatest UFC Heavyweight Champion‘. In 2019 he became the second man after Jon Jones to defeat Daniel Cormier. Now, he would be looking to end the animosity with Cormier with another victory over him.
As both the players have a lot on stake in this fight, it is going to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
