All sport events throughout the world has been cancelled or postponed due to coronavirus and so do Wimbledon. Wimbledon has been cancelled for the first time since World war 2. But the organisers of Wimbledon has send an emotional message to the healthcare workers who are working day and night to save lives.
Wimbledon has put a video message on Twitter and wrote a caption “Play is suspended, but we cheer for a different kind of champion.” All healthcare workers are declared as champions this year.
In the video Federer talked about the fans who made all the Wimbledon so happening and cheerful since it had started in 1877. He talked about the excitement of fans and how time changed since it’s inception, how fans waited all day and night, queued outside to watch champions play.
He also showed the sadness towards it by saying that this summer there will be no tent will going to pitched, no trophies engraved. Further he added that one day this all will be ok because of the support of healthcare workers.
Wimbledon is receiving $141million as they are giving money since 17 years for the pandemic insurance.
