Cricket Australia postpones Australia’s tour to South Africa due to the Covid situation in the host country

Cricket Australia’s CEO on Tuesday said that Australia’s tour to South Africa stands postponed. The tour has been deferred because of the second wave and the new variant of virus currently prevailing in the host country, South Africa.

Australia and South Africa were to play a three-match Test series in the month of February-March.

Cricket Australia made the statement on its official account. The Twitter post captioned, “Today we informed Cricket South Africa that we believe we have no choice but to postpone the forthcoming Qantas Tour of South Africa due to the coronavirus pandemic. Full statement”

As of now, the new scheduled date for the series is not out, but it has been made clear that the tour would take place once things restore to normalcy.

While South Africa are away to play a series against Pakistan, Australian Team are home after the just-concluded series against India.
