‘If losing is an art, Kohli is an artist’: Twitter fumes over India’s shameful loss to New Zealand in T20 World Cup

With the loss to New Zealand, India's chances of making it to the semi-final are all but over. It will take a miracle for the Men in Blue to go through to the semis.

India has lost their second game on the trot in the T20 World Cup and is now standing on the doorstep of early elimination. After a humiliating loss against Pakistan in their opening encounter, the Men in Blue met a similar fate against New Zealand. Indian batting lineup yet again failed to click in a crucial game as they were handed a eight-wicket loss by the Kiwis.

Put in to bat first, India managed just 110 runs as the top order collapsed exposing the underperforming middle order. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant failed to deliver the goods as India were restricted to a below-par total. A couple of timely hits from Ravindra Jadeja saw India cross the 100 run mark which seemed improbable at a moment.

Chasing a paltry 110 run total, Kiwis got over the line with over five overs to spare. Daryl Mitchell played a blistering knock to keep his side’s hopes alive in the ongoing T20 World Cup as the Kiwis look to bounce back from a loss to Pakistan in their opening encounter. Ish Sodhi with two wickets and Trent Boult with three were the Kiwi’s star performers with the ball.

Twitteratis are furious with such a sub-standard performance from one of the best teams in the World. They took out their frustration on Twitter as they questioned team selection, players intent and the role of the IPL in such a horrid performance.

Coming into the T20 World Cup 2021, India were labelled as the hot favourites but the case seems to be the opposite. Despite a month-long stay in the UAE, having played the second leg of the IPL, the Indian players seem to be nowhere near decoding the mystery of batting in the middle east.
