Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) produced one of the most enthralling games of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the game where the momentum swung back and forth, it was the Super Kings who managed to have the last laugh. With the victory, MS Dhoni & Co. also continue their winning streak in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The high-voltage match commenced with Eoin Morgan winning the toss and inviting the Yellow army to chase the score. Batting in the first innings, Kolkata produced a brilliant show with the willow. Rahul Tripathi continued his fine form in the tournament as he hit another fine knock.

Rahul smashed 44 runs off 33 deliveries and emerged as the highest run-scorer for his team. In the end, the Knight Riders managed to post 171 runs in their 20 overs while losing six wickets. Apart from Rahul, Nitish Rana also made a notable contribution by adding 37 runs to the scoreboard.

For the Super Kings, Josh Hazelwood and Shardul Thakur were the most successful bowlers as they picked two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja also gained some success as he picked one wicket of Rahul Tripathi.

Chasing 172, Chennai saw a lot of twists and turns. The team got off to a blistering start as the opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis stitched a 74-run partnership. While the team almost confirmed their win, there was a flurry of wickets, and CSK were forced to play at the backfoot.

Kolkata made a comeback in the match by causing a collapse of CSK’s middle-order. In the end, the equation boiled down to Chennai needing 26 off 12 with Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle. Playing in the penultimate over, Jadeja showed his class as he hammered Prasidh Krishna for two maximums and two boundaries.

The last over also saw a lot of drama as Kolkata had a herculean task of defending four runs off six balls. Sunil Narine scalped two wickets to make the match more interesting. However, Chahar smashed the winning runs to take CSK home on the very last ball of the match.
