Jasprit Bumrah is without a doubt, one of the best bowlers in the world at present. The Indian cricketer is one of the most consistent fast-bowlers in the world who can bowl yorkers at will. Starting off as a 20-year-old in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians (MI), Bumrah soon became well-known around the world thanks to his performances for the franchise and subsequently, the Indian national team.
As of now, Bumrah spearheads the Indian pace attack across all three formats and is one of the top bowlers in the world. He has 84 wickets to his name in just 18 Tests along with 108 wickets in 67 ODIs. In the T20I format as well, he has 59 wickets from 50 games. He has also been a key reason for MI’s success in the IPL as he has picked up 115 wickets so far in less than 100 games at a staggering economy of 7.39.
Jasprit Bumrah’s first wicket was Virat Kohli
Jasprit Bumrah had an excellent start to his IPL career as he picked up three wickets in his debut IPL match for MI against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Further, they were all key wickets of batsmen who were in form. He conceded just 32 runs as well and became the second bowler to take more than three wickets in his debut IPL match.
The first wicket that Bumrah picked was that of none other than current Indian captain Virat Kohli. The pacer trapped Kohli in front with an inswinging delivery before letting out a loud road out of glee that he had picked up his first IPL wicket. The second wicket was that of Mayank Agarwal who holed out to Sachin Tendulkar at mid-off. The third wicket – that of Karun Nair was similar to Virat Kohli’s as he was trapped LBW. Bumrah’s electrifying spell would not matter though as RCB went on to win the match by 2 runs in a thriller of an encounter.
