Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik are two of the most exciting fast bowling talents in the Indian circuit. They recently made their ODI debut against New Zealand and played decently with the ball. With a lot of room for improvement, they are being considered the future of Indian fast bowling.
Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was recently asked to share how he feels bowling alongside Umran Malik. The cricketer said that he enjoys being with Malik as he also likes to crack jokes. He also explained how Malik’s habit of consistently clocking 150 kmph helps him in deceiving batters from the other end.
Arshdeep said, “Umran k saath mahoul kafi accha rehta hai. Usko hasi mazak kaafi pasand hai. Aur jaha tak bowling ki baat hai, Mujhe benefit mil jata hai kyuki 155 se sidha 135 jab khelne ata hai batsman toh decieve ho jata hai toh kaafi pace se. (Things are quite enjoyable with Umran around. Like me, he also likes to crack jokes. As far as bowling is concerned, I get a lot of benefits [when he’s bowling at the other end] as batters get deceived playing 135 km/h after his 155 km/h deliveries). We enjoy a lot both on and off the field. We will try to keep this partnership going even off the field.”

Arshdeep Singh explains why partnership is important in bowling
Arshdeep Singh also described how bowling in ODIs is different from bowling in T20s. He said that just like batters, bowlers also do partnerships in the game. He further stated that if his partner is bowling aggressively from one end then he automatically bowls defensively to add to the pressure on the opponents.
“ODI is a long game, partnerships play a key role, just like in batting, in bowling also partnership is important. I check how my partner at the other end is bowling on the other end. If he’s bowling well, getting more out of the surface then I will try and stop the runs to help him out. At the end of the day, it’s a team sport. If I am attacking, my partner at the other end will go on the defensive,” he added.

The duo will be in action once again in the third and final ODI between India and New Zealand on Wednesday (November 30). The ODI series is currently titled towards the hosts with 1-0. The Men in Blue will want to put everything on to tie the series and leave the nation on a high note.
