Virat Kohli was the anchor in RCB’s win against Gujrat Titans as he classed his way to a 54 ball 73. After a disappointing season which saw him score just 236 runs in 13 matches, Virat Kohli finally showed his prowess against the Gujrat Titans. With the 73, Kohli has now scored over 300 runs in the IPL in every season since 2010. Making him the highest run getter in IPL history.

RCB did well to restrict GT to 168 in the first innings. Virat and Faf du Plessis then gave RCB the perfect start, batting all through 15th over when Faf gout out. It was then Glenn Maxwell who stepped up and scored an 18 ball 40 to hand over the victory to RCB. Virat Kohli was highly adjudged Man of the Match for his cool 73.

In the post match presentation, Kohli opened up on his difficult season and his determination to bounce back. He said, “I can keep going. It was an important game. I was disappointed that I haven’t done much for my team and that is what bothers me, not the stats. Today was a game where I was able to create an impact for the team. Puts us in a good position. There are expectations because of the performances that you have put in. You need to keep the perspective right.”

He also added, “You can forget the process in order to live up to the expectations. I have worked really hard. I batted 90 minutes in the nets yesterday. I came in very free and relaxed. I won’t be standing here being ungrateful for all that I have achieved. With the very first shot off Shami, I felt I could hit length balls over the fielder’s head. I knew that tonight was the night when I could kick on. It has been wonderful that I have got so much support in this edition. I am forever grateful to all the love that I have never seen before.”
