Suryakumar Yadav
The No.1 T20I batsman in the world, Suryakumar Yadav, went berserk against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Friday (May 12) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After a sluggish fifty, he wrapped up the match with an unbeaten century, which is also his maiden one. His carnage took Mumbai Indians (MI) to 218/5 in their 20 overs. GT won the toss and asked the host to bat first.
The MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a flying start and stitched a 61-run stand between them before Rashid Khan dismissed the former to give the first breakthrough in the seventh over. The Afghan spinner then got rid of Kishan as well. Kishan scored 31 runs from 20 balls, while Rohit played an 18-ball 29-run knock.
After that, entered Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera. Though Rashid Khan sent Wadhera to the dugout in his next over, it was impossible to stop Suryakumar Yadav.
Suryakumar remained unbeaten, slamming his maiden century off a six on the last delivery of MI’s innings. He ended up scoring 103* off 49 balls with 11 boundaries and six maximums at a monstrous strike rate of 210.20.
