WATCH: MS Dhoni reveals future of Matheesha Pathirana in yellow jersey

MS Dhoni, at the post-match presentation revealed that Matheesha Pathirana will don in yellow jersey next year. Ravichandran Ashwin’ all-rounding skills today was the reason why Rajasthan were able to come out victorious against Chennai Super Kings on Friday, May 20 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

MS Dhoni praised Matheesha Pathirana and said :

“That’s what is needed for youngsters. Our Malinga (Pathirana) is difficult to pick, and he’ll only surely contribute for us next year. We have done well in patches. Important thing is to do well as a team. Crucial thing is to make the most of an opportunity if you are a bowler or a batter. It’s not a one-year tournament, you keep coming back year after year. Key is to keep going as a player for the next 10-12 years.”

Ravichandran Ashwin displays all-rounding performance

Talking about the match, CSK had won the toss and opted to bat first and in spite of a powerful innings from Moeen Ali, CSK were able to just score 150 runs. He fell short of just 7 runs to score his century. So facing 57 balls, he scored 93 runs.

RR responded with a brilliant innings by youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored 59 off 44 balls. And the next high-scorer for RR was not Jos Buttler or Sanju Samson but it was Ravichandran Ashwin who got praises showered from everywhere with his unbeaten knock of 40 off 23 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes.

At the post-match presentation, Ashwin said: “I want to play my A game. I am glad to make to the playoffs and super pleased. I just brought out the David Warner inside me“.
