Many Afghan players have followed the footsteps of Rashid Khan and have showcased their talents in this year’s PSL. With the second half of the tournament all set to take place in UAE, Khan explained his side of story to decide to play in PSL. According to a report by cricket.com, Rashid said:

“Unfortunately, I only played two games in PSL 6 and had to go away for national duty. Now I had the option to stay back in England and here I must appreciate Sussex for their help and understanding as I had to decide between missing five games with the county or playing a whole tournament like PSL which seemed like a better option, especially as the fans wanted me to play in the PSL.”

Rashid further continued, “All the players who have come from Afghanistan and are playing the PSL, this is a great opportunity for them to come and play alongside top players and to improve their own cricket. For all those Afghan youngsters who have not got an opportunity to play in other leagues, this is a great chance to prove that they have the skills and talent to play in top-level cricket.”

It is a well known fact that PSL offers an elite level of bowlers in the tournament. By playing against such bowlers, it can help any batsman improve their game. Additionally, bowlers like Rashid Khan can further add new skills to their arsenal as a bowler.

Maybe this is one of the reasons why Khan has offered his services for the Lahore Qalandars. Do you think it was a good decision from Rashid to play choosing PSL over first class cricket in England? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
