Dinesh Karthik has heaped massive praises for the young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. The Delhi cricketer has become the talk of the town ever since his heroics came during the iconic Test series against Australia.
Rishabh Pant has emerged as one of the most improved cricketers for the Virat Kohli-led side in recent years. The 23-year old was also awarded at the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he was handed over the captaincy of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the absence of Shreyas Iyer.
In a recent interaction with Sports Today, Karthik mentioned that Pant has produced fabulous performances in such a short time.
“I think, in the short while that Rishabh Pant has been around, he has put up some fabulous performances, he has played in some real high-pressure games. Be it the World Cup final, be it the IPL final and the beauty is he has done well in a lot of these games, personally. I think he is someone who is always up for the challenge, in the IPL final he got a fifty,” Karthik said.
‘Pant will be an integral part of Indian cricket’
The Tamil Nadu cricketer feels that Rishabh Pant is a superstar in making. Karthik recalled some of his performances in crunch situations for India and DC. He also mentioned that the youngster will be an integral part of the Indian cricket team and represent the nation in 100 Test matches.
“I remember, a couple of years ago, he won a game single-handedly for Delhi Capitals, I think it was the eliminator. In these crunch games, he has always found ways to get runs. That shows his ability to handle pressure. He really thrives under pressure. He played some fabulous innings for India in the last couple of series against Australia and England.”
“I have no doubt that he will be an integral part of Indian cricket and be one of those who is going to play 100 Tests and a lot of white-ball cricket for India as well,” he went on to add.
