Ace India speedster Jasprit Bumrah revealed that former New Zealand cricketer Shane Bond played a crucial role in his success. Bumrah has worked for several years under the guidance of Shane Bond who is the current bowling coach of the IPL franchise of Mumbai Indians.

The MI pacer is all set for his next assignment in the form of the World Test Championships (WTC) final against the Kiwis. The much-awaited clash is scheduled from June 18 to June 22 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. 

Jasprit Bumrah said in a video shared by his franchise that Bond has helped him learn and add new things to his bowling. He asserted that their relationship has got better every year on the cricket field.

“I always try to talk to him even when I am not here and with the Indian team. So, it’s been a good journey, and hopefully, every year I keep learning something new and try to add new things to my bowling. He has played a major role in that. It’s been a great relationship so far, and hopefully, this continues for many many years to come,” Bumrah said.

“When I met him over here, it was a good experience. He helped me a lot to open my mind to different things that I could try on the cricket field. So that was very good and that relationship has only gotten better each and every year,” added the Gujarat pacer.

Trent Boult showers praises for Bond

Bumrah’s MI teammate and partner-in-crime Trent Boult also heaped massive praises for the former Kiwi cricketer. The 31-year-old mentioned that he really likes working with Bond as he ensures that the bowlers are well equipped and have got enough information to make the decisions.

“He has been here for a long time, he knows what he is doing and he puts in a lot of work into making sure that the bowlers are well equipped and have got enough information to make some decisions on the day. Yeah, really enjoy working with him,” said Boult, who has played 71 Tests.
