Ever since the disastrous first half of IPL 2021, the relationship between Sunrisers Hyderabad and its former captain David Warner has gone from bad to worse. After being snubbed from the team as the captaincy was taken away from the Aussie, SRH management seems in no mood to amend the injustice done to the veteran.

David Warner was the pillar of the team from the get-go leading SRH to its maiden title and into the playoffs four times in a row. But the Sunerisers think tank forgot all his contributions in just five games as he was dropped from the side. While Warner is cheerful as eve supporting his side, the franchise has been cold-shouldering him as they have removed him from their social media posts.

This horrible treatment of the southpaw started when SRH lost three games on the trot in IPL 2021. As Warner struggled to lead from the front, the batting order perished as the Sunrisers were forced to the bottom of the table. The think tank first removed Warner from the captain’s role before banishing him from the dressing room in the second half of the league.

As SRH finished at the bottom of the table, David Warner moved on to the T20 World Cup trying to put away the forgettable season and harsh treatment of the franchise. The devastating opener, backed by his national team looked to make a fresh start and he did so in style. Warner finished as the second-highest run-getter in the T20 World Cup 2021.

The southpaw amassed 289 runs in seven innings at an average of over 48 as he was adjudged the Player of the Tournament. With Aaron Finch misfiring, Warner shouldered the entire responsibility atop the order as he helped Australia to their maiden T20 World Cup trophy. Warner played a couple of scintillating innings in the semifinals and finals to send a message ahead of the mega auction.

As the Aussies lifted the title, the IPL franchises came forward to congratulate their players on the feat. All but not Sunrisers Hyderabad. While SRH didn’t bother wishing Warner on the achievement, the Orange Army wished their former skipper in the comments section of Sunrisers’ last post. Warner was more than happy to thank his fans for their wishes.
