The 2021 ICC T20 World Cup is set to be a Trans-Tasman affair as Australia and New Zealand are set to lock horns on Sunday. Meanwhile, Aussie skipper Aaron Finch has stated that he is not worried much about the toss and feels it won’t decide the eventual result of the game in Dubai.

Notably, the toss has turned out to be a crucial factor in most of the matches in the Super 12 stage of the ongoing ICC tournament. The results have heavily fallen in favour of the teams batting second with dew playing a huge role at the latter half. However, according to the right-handed batter, each side should be able to win in all conditions in a tournament like the World Cup.

“Absolutely it can be overcome. At some point, to win this tournament you’re going to have to bat first. I was actually hoping to lose the toss against Pakistan because I would have loved to put up a score on the board in that semi-final. It was one of those ones where you’re probably never going to bat first but you don’t mind if you have to. It’s the same going into the final,” Finch said according to Sydney Morning Herald.

Aaron Finch shed light on the result of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) where Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lifted the trophy while batting first at the same venue. The MS Dhoni-led side beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs to clinch their fourth title.

“We saw it in the IPL final. Chennai were able to put a big score on the board and really squeeze there. It comes down to the day. If you can put a total on the board and make the opposition take risks early in the innings, then that’s what it’s all about,” the Aussie skipper added.
