The wait is finally over as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the much-anticipated 2021 ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Apart from several surprise picks and misses, one name that grabbed everyone’s eyeballs was former India captain, MS Dhoni.

The Chetan Sharma-led selection panel confirmed that Dhoni is once again set to be seen in the blue jersey, but this time as a mentor of the side. This news left the Indian fans and supporters in utter delight as they quickly took to Twitter to react to this news.

The board named 15 members along with three reserve players for the multi-nation tournament, scheduled later this year in October. The most astonishing pick was Ravichandran Ashwin, who is set to make his comeback in the limited-overs national side after almost four years. On the other hand, India’s most successful spinner in recent years, Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t find himself a place in the line-up.

Some other major names to miss out from the tournament are Shikhar Dhawan, T Natarajan, and Kuldeep Yadav. The three reserve players included the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar
