Team India and New Zealand are less than a day away from playing in the World Test Championship final. The two sides have done incredibly well over the last two years and have booked a place in the finals.
While New Zealand recently played a Test series against England, team India have played intra-squad games to get in the groove. Those intra-squad games might have also helped the team in deciding the playing XI for the upcoming game.
On that note, team India’s Playing XI was also announced just now. Here are the 11 players that will play for the team in hopes of clinching the WTC trophy.
- Rohit Sharma
- Shubman Gill
- Cheteshwar Pujara
- Virat Kohli (c)
- Ajinkya Rahane
- Rishabh Pant (wk)
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Ravi Ashwin
- Mohammed Shami
- Ishant Sharma
- Jasprit Bumrah
The above-mentioned names will represent their team in the final of this new ICC tournament. Expectations are certainly high, but will they be able to live it up? Only time will reveal that.
What should fans expect from team India at WTC final?
With the final squad revealed, it’s time to take a look at the expectations from Men in Blue. Since the game will be played in England, the management and captain Kohli have decided to play with three pacers.
While many might have wanted to Umesh Yadav or Mohammed Siraj to start alongside the Bumrah-Shami duo, Ishant has a lot of experience under his belt.
As for the batting lineup, Kohli, Pujara, and Rahane will be the heart of the team. But the importance of Pant can’t be overstated. He proved his worth in the against Australia earlier this year.
All things considered, the WTC final should be a thrilling contest. Do you think this playing XI has what it takes to make team Indian the first ever WTC champions? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
