Chris Gayle gets a wicket on his final ball

When West Indies stepped in to play their final Super 12 encounter against the Aussies, they were already down and out of contention for the semis. They had a poor run throughout the T20World Cup where they just couldn’t find ways to consolidate with the bat.

The pitches in the UAE were always going to be a little tricky for the batsmen and that is exactly what we observed and the West Indies batters, who are accustomed to playing the smash-bang type of cricket were caught off-guard on several occasions. Against the Aussies as well, batting first, Windies managed to put a below-par total on the board.

In came the Aussies all guns blazing who wanted to boost their net run rate which actually proved to be the main factor in deciding which team qualifies from Group A in the end alongside England. While the game was all about the Aussies, the Windies had a couple of stars who were playing their final T20 for them.

Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo had already announced that they were going to retire from International T20 after this World Cup. While the ‘Universe Boss’ couldn’t really do much with the bat, with the ball, he was able to finish on a high which was enough to put a smile on the faces of his fans.

Bowling his last delivery in International cricket, Gayle dismissed Mitch Marsh when Australia needed just one run to win. Delighted by what had transpired, Gayle went on to hug Marsh for getting out on his last ball in Windies colors. The video of the incident is making rounds on social media.
