Virat Kohli’s dry run in the international circuit continues. The Indian skipper is going through a lean patch in his career and hail failed to produce any good innings in the purest format of the game for over a year. Kohli was expected to lead from the front during the five-match Test series between England and India.

However, the 32-year-old has failed to show any improvement and is averaging less than 20 after featuring in four batting innings. The Indian cricket fans were again disappointed on Wednesday, August 25 when Virat lost his wicket on day one of the Leeds Test at a mere score of seven.

The visitors didn’t have an ideal start at the Headingley as they lost their first two wickets in the form of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara within six overs. With India reeling at 4-2, the cricket fanatics had pinned their hopes on the Indian skipper for bailing the team out of the crisis.

However, Virat dished out another dismal performance as he fell prey to James Anderson in the 11th over. Notably, Kohli has now played 50 innings, including T20I, ODIs, and Tests, without reaching the 100-run mark. Kohli scripted his 70th international hundred against Bangladesh in November 2019. However, since then, the Delhi-born has been suffering from a century drought.

The back-to-back poor performances by the Indian captain haven’t gone down well with many cricket fans. Thus, the skipper became a butt of jokes on social media after his failure in the Leeds Test. Twitterati came harsh on the skipper as the agitated fans minced no words while trolling the batsman.

As far as India is concerned, the entire team collapsed at a score of 78 in their first batting innings. The opening batsman Rohit Sharma was the highest run-getter for India with 19 runs under his belt.
