Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is considered the best batter of the modern era. The Delhi Stalwart is also the most popular sportsman and boasts of having a whopping fan-following across the globe. Kohli is known for creating new milestones in the cricket fraternity every other day.

Apart from his on-field exploits, Virat Kohli continues to script history off the field too. On Friday, October 29, the Indian skipper became the third most followed athlete on the photo-sharing platform, Instagram. The 32-year-old achieved the elusive feat after reaching a remarkable 164 million followers on his official Instagram handle. 

The batter also leapfrogged football star, Neymar Junior. Portugal footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-followed sportsperson on Instagram. Ronaldo is the biggest brand of sports as he has a whopping 360 million followers. The footballer is followed by his rival Lionel Messi in second place with 278 million followers. 

For the unversed, it was in March that Kohli scripted history by becoming the only cricketer and the first Indian to reach the feat of 100 million followers on Instagram. The same was followed by Virat becoming the only Asian celebrity to reach 150 million followers. In addition, the Delhi-born also features in the list of top ten athletes who earn the most amount from Instagram promotions.

As far as Virat Kohli’s professional life is concerned, he is busy leading India in the shortest format of the game at the highest level. Kohli is captaining the Indian side as they are participating in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. India didn’t have an ideal start in the global event as they lost their first game to arch-rivals Pakistan.

However, the skipper had a good outing with the willow as he slammed a half-century to take his team to a decent total. Kohli will be hoping to continue his sensational ride with the willow to take his team to victory in the T20 tournament.
