Indian skipper Virat Kohli isn’t having the best of the time in his professional career. The Men in Blue have succumbed to a disastrous outing in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The team lost to arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match by ten wickets followed by a defeat against New Zealand by eight wickets.

Two back-to-back losses have hampered India’s chances of making it to the playoffs. India will now have to depend on the performances of other teams along with their own to make it to the next stage. This also means that Virat Kohli is most likely to face another failure when it comes to ICC events.

Kohli has been unlucky as the captain so far as India is yet to win an ICC trophy under his leadership. Kohli has led India in four ICC events so far including the ongoing T20 World Cup namely the 2017 Champions Trophy, 2019 World Cup, and Test Championship. After seeing India’s horrible performance in T20 WC, it is learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can take strict action on Virat.

It is learned that BCCI is now thinking on the lines of removing Virat Kohli as the ODI skipper too. The Indian board is keen on having one player as the white-ball skipper and wants to start preparing for the 2023 ODI World Cup at the earliest. However, nothing is confirmed yet as the officials will be taking a final call over Virat’s ODI captaincy in BCCI’s upcoming meet with the selectors.
