Just like how Sehwag used to contribute on the field, he is now doing the same off the field as well. Sehwag has launched a new cricket coaching app alongside Sanjay Bangar, and when talking about the app, Sehwag made some revelations about his partner on crease for years, Sachin Tendulkar.

Growing up in the 1990s, most cricket players studied the game of Tendulkar while aspiring to one day play for the Indian cricket team. Sehwag was also the same and according to a report by Cricket.com, he first started watching Sachin during the 1992 World Cup. Viru revealed:

Cricket is played on the ground but a lot can be learned. If I give my own example, I started watching cricket from the 1992 World Cup and at that time used to watch (Sachin) Tendulkar and copy him.”

He further added, “How he plays the straight drives, how he plays the back-foot punch… In 1992, if I could watch TV and learn a bit, why not.”

Sehwag learned the game of cricket from arguably the best-ever player in the history of the game. Now it’s time for Sehwag to pass on that knowledge to the next generation with his online cricket coaching website.

Of course, it is easier said than done, but this is a great initiative by Virender Sehwag. Do you think he will succeed in this mission? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
