Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga is only the third bowler to pick up a T20 World Cup hattrick. Before him, the great Bret Lee had achieved the feat on the big stage. Lee had taken the maiden hattrick in T20 World Cup back in 2007 against Bangladesh. After 14 long years, Curtis Campher became the second bowler to emulate the feat in the Round 1 of the T20 World Cup and now Hasaranga has joined the elite list.

Despite Hasaranga’s heroics with the ball, Sri Lanka failed to get over the line. David Miller smashed two huge sixes to take South Africa to a thrilling win as they look to make their way to the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021. With the loss, Sri Lanka’s hopes of making it to the next round of the tournament are all but done.
