Canada vs USA

A nail-biting affair recently took place between Canada and the USA during the 2022 T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier. The match was no less than a pendulum that kept shifting sides after every span of a few deliveries.

Batting first, Canada batters posted a par score of 142/5 on the board at the end of their 20 overs at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua. Navneet Dhaliwal (44) and Ravinderpal Singh emerged as the top-scorers for their side. USA’s Ian Holland was their pick of the bowlers with his spell of 4-1-25-1.

In reply, the Canadians didn’t allow the opposition to come into the game as they kept ticking the wickets column at regular intervals. However, the States’ lower-order batters did well as they were down to three runs needed off the ball. Speedster Ali Khan was on strike while former South African pacer Rusty Theron was at the non-striker’s end.

Crazy scenes on the ground as Canada lose the Super Over

The bowler did a great job of preventing Ali from connecting the ultimate ball of the game. It was a bye and the batters stole a quick run from the Canadian wicket-keeper Hamza Tariq. The fielders didn’t dislodge the bails and started celebrating all over the park while batters saw this as an opportunity to claim another run. Hence, the game ended in a bizarre match that could have been easily won by Dhaliwal and Co.

The clash later went to the Super Over where the USA posted as many as 22 runs for the loss of a solitary. The Canadian players could only score 14 runs and Monank Patel’s men registered an emphatic victory.
