Spectators indulged in a bizarre act during IND vs NZ 1st Test

The first Test match between India and New Zealand is currently underway at the Green Park, Kanpur on Thursday. This home series marks special importance for the Indian fans as the spectators have been allowed inside the spectators after a significant gap due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, a bizarre incident took place on the first day of the game as the fans and supporters were seen chanting something unusual in the initial overs. The shouts of ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ were heard from the stands.

This happened in the first hour of the day’s play during the sixth over of the innings itself when opening batters Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill were busy surviving the new ball. Notably, India and Pakistan had recently indulged in a high-voltage game at the 2021 T20 World Cup where the ‘Men in Green’ beat their arch-rivals.

India’s stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane had earlier won a good toss and opted to bat first with Shreyas Iyer making his Test debut in the middle-order. Youngster Shubman Gill went on to smash an outstanding half-century despite losing the early wicket of his partner, Mayank Agarwal.

“Looking to bat first. Pitch looks really good. Generally slows down later on here. It’s an opportunity for all of us here to do well here and in Mumbai. Few of the senior guys are missing. So it’s an opportunity for the youngsters. Shreyas is making his debut. We are all excited to play under the new coaching staff. I personally enjoy playing under Rahul bhai. New Zealand are a quality side. 3 spinners, 2 seamers,” Rahane had said during the toss.
