The Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 2021 T20 World Cup match is currently underway at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The two sides are fighting hard to claim those two crucial points and start their WC campaign on a high note. Meanwhile, two players of both teams – Liton Das (BAN) and Lahiru Kumara (SL) indulged in a heated brawl during the first innings of the game.

The incident took place on the fifth ball of the sixth while Bangladeshi batters were at the crease. Lankan speedster Kumara claimed the wicket of Das as skipper Dasun Shanaka completed a regulation catch inside the 30-yard circle. Following this, the batter and the bowler were seen involved in a heated face-off and other players and the on-field umpires had to separate the duo and clear the situation.

Notably, Lahiru Kumara had earlier come up with an unnecessary wild throw at Liton’s partner Mohammad Naim Sheikh during his previous over in the same match which could have possibly been the starting point of the fight.

Batting first, Bangladesh openers were off to a great start before they lost the wickets of Das and key player Shakib Al Hasan in quick succession. However, Naim (62) and Mushfiqur Rahim (57*) consolidated the innings well from there before the duo started accelerating the run rate. In the end, Mahmudullah and his men posted a solid total of 171/4 on the board at the end of their 20 overs.

SL went with as many as seven bowling options but most of them were unable to leave a lasting impact with their performances. Pacer Chamika Karunarate emerged as the pick of the bowlers with his spell of 3-0-12-1 while Binura Fernando and Kumara also picked up a wicket each.
