Chennai Super Kings who had a difficult season in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 when they missed out on the playoffs for the first time, came roaring back in 2021 as they climbed to the top of the table at the halfway stage of the tournament. All the problems from the previous year seemed to have been solved as they went with a deep batting line-up that batted with intent throughout the course of an innings.

When the IPL 2021 was suspended, CSK were on the second spot with five wins out of seven matches. Delhi Capitals (DC) who were above them had played a game more however, meaning that had the Men in Yellow won their next match, they would have gone top of the table yet again.

The Chennai Super Kings’ official Twitter handle posted a short video today of MS Dhoni attempting the sword celebration and captioned it, “Sword ft. Thala.” This video has now gone viral on social media with fans of Dhoni, Jadeja and the Men in Yellow appreciating the skipper’s try at the celebration.

With regard to this year’s tournament, Dhoni was not in the best of form. As a matter of fact, he more often than not did come out to bat at all, as he was happy to demote himself down the order, while allowing the explosive in-form batters to express themselves in the middle overs. Ravindra Jadeja meanwhile, was in terrific touch with bat, ball as well as in the field as he played a crucial role in CSK’s resurgence this season.
