Top leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has once again found his mojo back in the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The 31-year-old has picked wickets on demand for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on the pitches of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Chahal has also often jokingly expressed his love for batting, claiming to be a better batsman than he is considered. Something similar took place against Rajasthan Royals (RR) during match 44 of IPL 2021 on Wednesday. The right-hander expressed his desire to bat at number three for the Challengers. This took place when the broadcasters put up a poll asking fans who should bat at one down RCB while openers Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal were at the crease.

The options included the likes of wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat, flamboyant Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, and Mr 360 AB de Villiers. Meanwhile, Chahal, who was sitting in the dugout raised his hand, picked up a bat and indicated three with his fingers, leaving the commentators in splits.

Coming to the result of the game, the Bangalore-based franchise comfortably chased down the target of 153 runs inside the 18th over. They produced a complete team performance as most of their players continued with either bat or ball.

During the run chase, Maxwell emerged as the top scorer for the Challengers with his unbeaten half-century in 30 deliveries. Earlier, RR could not post a massive total on the board despite a swashbuckling start at the top. Royals’ opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal (31) and Evin Lewis (58) indulged in a decent partnership of 77 runs before their side lost the momentum.

Harshal Patel claimed three wickets while Yuzi Chahal was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his unbelievable spell of 4-0-18-2.
