Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is known for his calm and composed personality on and off the cricket field. Though the veteran isn’t a supporter of aggressiveness, he knows well how to react to the provocations from the opposite players on the match field. In tense situations, the former skipper lets his bat do the talking to keep the temperature up on the field.
A video is being floated on social media where Dhoni can be seen giving a fitting reply to the bowler after being almost hit by the ball. The video showcases a snippet from the 2006 Faisalabad Test between India and Pakistan. India was batting at a score of 320 for five with Irfan Pathan at ten and Dhoni at 39.
The Pakistan spinner Kaneria bowled a delivery to the Ranchi-born and he beautifully defended the ball. The same didn’t go well with the bowler and to get into Dhoni’s head, Kaneria hurled the ball back to Dhoni. The Pakistani spinner had aimed the ball towards the right-hander’s head but Dhoni saved himself by just a few inches.
MS Dhoni gives a savage reply to Danish Kaneria
Though the ball landed in the gloves of Pakistan’s wicketkeeper, it was evident that Danish did it on purpose as he was trying to intimidate the Indian stalwart. What happened next would surely be remembered by the Pakistan spinner for the ages to come.
Instead of getting in a feud with Danish, Dhoni put all his energy into delivering the very next ball into the stands. With a whirlwind maximum, the Ranchi-born also made a huge statement as he was playing only his fifth Test.
Meanwhile, the match was extremely special for Dhoni on a personal note. The wicketkeeper-batsman reached his first century in the purest format of the game. He scores 148 runs off 153 deliveries. The match ended in a tie.
