Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester United: Man Utd back on level with Leicester City in the Premier League table

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial goals secured a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace in Manchester United on Thursday to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive and kicking.

On the back of poor results, both sides came into this game as United conceded a late goal to draw 2-2 at home against Southampton, while Palace lost 2-0 in their last match against Aston Villa.

As the first half drawing to an end United took the lead. Palace winger Wilfried Zaha seemed grieved that he had not won a penalty after a tackle from Victor Lindelof, and although VAR reviewed the accident, United went on to score on the other end as Marcus Rashford scored just before the half-time.

Jordan Ayew thought that he had equalised for Crystal Palace after a cross from Zaha in the early minutes of the second half only after ruled off as it was slightly offside according to the VAR refereeing team.

Palace created better chances, but Zaha, Milivojevic and Ayew all attempts were denied by David de Gea’s brilliance athleticism.

Anthony Martial put the game to rest as he displayed tremendous strength in finishing off past Palace shot-stopper Vicente Guaita despite Fernandes and Rashford ‘s nuanced action in the 78th minute of the game. Martial has now scored 17 goals and made 5 assists this season.

Manchester United stat level on points with Leicester City who sit above them in fourth place and continue to keep the pressure on for a Champions League place.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side continue their unbeaten run to 19 games in all competitions and their attention switches to their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea on Sunday. While, Crystal Palace would take on Wolves in their upcoming Premier League fixture.
