Cyberpunk 2077: The New Third-Person Mode

This article is all about New Third-Person Mode especially for the player in the cyberpunk 2077.

This article is all about New Third-Person Mode especially for the player in the cyberpunk 2077. A new mod for Cyberpunk 2077 has been developed which allows players to play the game in this mode. Now you can experience the view of Night City. Read on to know more about the mod in the game.

The third-person mode is a mod that was created by Nexus user Jelle Bakker. It does exactly what it sounds like, and it allows players to use this perspective in Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time. To get the mod, players need to head over to the Cyberpunk 2077 section of the Nexus Mods site. Once everything for the site is all set for anyone new, this mode can be downloaded for Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077’s New Third-Person Mod Explained

One mod needs to be downloaded first, though, which is Cyber Engine Tweaks. Installing it will fix some issues in the game and is also a base for the third-person mode. The open-world RPG is currently only available to experience from a first-person viewpoint, however, which has led some players to ask CD Projekt Red for a third-person feature. For now, it looks like the only way to experience Night City in third-person is with the use of mods. Thankfully, a new working mod can do just that.

It is worth noting though that since Cyberpunk 2077 was designed to be played mostly in first-person perspective, so you probably shouldn’t have this mode active throughout the whole game, as there are a few instances of clipping and other small glitches that can be seen in the video embedded above. Although this mod works well if you’re just walking around the city, things can apparently get worse if you move quickly or suddenly, for example in a chase or combat scene.

Cyberpunk is playable in third person thanks to this mod

Once the mod and tweaks have been downloaded, players can start the game up as usual and then hit B to swap into third-person mode. Hitting B again will also switch between 4 different camera views.  Issues with the mod may vary, but many are centred around the animations. For example, V’s arms can twist around when using weapons, or hair may disappear on characters due to some headgear registering as invisible.

There’s a list of known issues on the Nexus page, and there is also a discord link. Issues can likely be reported there, which will certainly help the mod. CD Projekt Red talked before about the use of third-person in Cyberpunk 2077. It was something they discussed, considering that their last games were third-person games. The developers decided that Night City would be too dense and close quarters for third-person to thrive. Ultimately, first-person became the default mode for the game.

However, it wouldn’t hurt to swap between both, as the mod makes it very simple to do so. In that sense, it’s the best of two perspectives.
