Portland Trail Blazers’ marquee player Damian Lillard knocks down 36 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds to help the team win their 8th game of the 2020-21 season by beating Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks were also led by their marquee player Trae Young, who scored a double-double with 26 points and 11 assists. With Clint Capela knocking 25 points and 15 rebounds for the Hawks. It still didn’t seem to get the Hawks past the Trail Blazers.

The Trail Blazers were paying without their marquee center Jusuf Nurkic, who will be out due to injury. CJ McCollum scored 16, but he was ruled out of the game because of a left foot sprain. But luckily for the Trail Blazers after the game coach Terry Stotts revealed that there is no serious injury to the player.

Lillard scored 36 points against Hawks to win 8th game in 2020-21 season for the Trail Blazers

“I think we should be proud of ourselves and the effort that we had in the second half,” Lillard said. “We know that first half wasn’t good enough. This was a game we had to have.”

“Tough loss. I thought they executed down the stretch. I thought the biggest area for us was just the fourth quarter lack of execution of our offense,” Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce said. “Defensively, we did a few nice things to speed the game up and try and take the ball out of Lillard’s hands, but we just struggled down the stretch.”

Heading into the game, Trae Young was averaging 8.4 assists, fourth in the NBA. The Hawks are the league’s second-best rebounding team, averaging 48.9. Atlanta has now lost in five consecutive games against the Trail Blazers. Damian Lillard has surpassed Kobe Bryant after knocking four 3-pointers as the 17th in the NBA list of most 3-pointers scored by a player.
