Dan Hooker eager to send Michael Chandler back to the ‘B League’

Former Bellator Star Michael Chandler is surely one of the most spoken about fighters. Especially ever since he has signed with UFC. Top-ranked Lightweight Dan Hooker expresses his desire to send Chandler back to the ‘B League.’ Chandler will be serving as the back-up for the UFC 254 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. While Chandler is not exactly confirmed to compete at the upcoming pay-per-view, the organisation matchmakers are still looking for his debut opponent. 

Dan Hooker’s is looking to bounce back after loss against Dustin Poirier earlier this year. While talking to Submission Radio, Hooker expressed his views on the UFC-Chandler situation.

Hooker stated that Chandler could be an obstacle he must cross to get back into the title picture. He added that he perfectly knows how much stock the UFC is putting into Michael Chandler. Especially after the latter was immediately added into the UFC 254 title picture. However, Dan Hooker claimed that he would love to send the former Bellator Lightweight Champion back to the “B-Leagues.” 

Hooker said, “Well, it was hard when people were speculating it and saying about the fight, it’s hard to know how much stock the UFC is putting into someone that’s coming from another organization. But for him to now be signed to the organization and being the fill-in for the title shot, now I know.” 

He added, “Now I’m certain of how much stock [they’re putting in]. The UFC is putting a lot of stock in on this kid. So, I would love to be the guy to welcome him to the UFC, knees his chin off, sends him back to the B-Leagues.” 

The New Zealander seems desperate to fight again by the end of the year. He suggests that his top pick, besides Chandler could be former interim lightweight champ Tony Ferguson.
