UFC President Dana White has claimed that a fight between top lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier might take place at UFC 254. If the fight is finalized, it will determine the next challenger for the UFC Lightweight title. The duo are expected to headline the co-main event at UFC 254 whose main event is being headlined by a massive title bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje.

Dana White was recently speaking with media and revealed that the promotion’s matchmakers were considering a potential lightweight clash between Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier. Despite so many fights lined up for upcoming weeks, this bout has sent fans crazy.

However, the fight will not be a five-round thriller. White has claimed that Tony Ferguson will fight Poirier in the co-main event of UFC 254.

The same event will be headlining an explosive title-unification bout between Khabib and Gaethje along with this new match up being added, the UFC 254 is surely going to be the promotion’s highest selling pay-per-views.

White was speaking with media following this week’s Contender Series. When asked about his plans to add Ferguson vs Poirier to UFC 254, exciting for everyone, White replied, “Probably”.

Besides this massive fight being added, UFC has already booked several other big fights for this event. They include Nurmagomedov vs. Gaethje, Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Yair Rodriguez, Robert Whittaker vs. Jarred Cannonier, and Islam Makhachev vs. Rafael dos Anjos apart from Tony Ferguson vs. Dustin Poirier.
