“I’ve got broomsticks thicker than that boy”, Dan Hooker slams Oliveira for turning down the fight against Chandler

UFC president, Dana White has said several times that Charles Oliveira was offered a fight against Michael Chandler for his debut at UFC 257, but he turned down the fight due to the short time period as he couldn’t have made the weight right after the Tony fight.

“Do Bronx” dominated Tony Ferguson in their fight at UFC 256 at he was offered a fight at UFC 257 but he couldn’t have made the weight so soon. Dan Hooker stepped in and is now going to face the former Bellator champ this Saturday 23^rd January, 2021 on “Fight Island”.

In the pre-fight conference for UFC 257, Hooker slammed Oliveira for turning down the fight, as well as his reasoning behind it.

“The only reason I’m here is because everyone ahead of me turned the fight down, they didn’t want to take the risk. They didn’t want to risk their spot. They come up with a bunch of excuses.”

“Old ‘Charlie Olives’ saying he can’t make the weight. Dana, you believe ‘Charlie Olives’ can’t make the weight? I’ve got broomsticks thicker than that boy. I’m here. I’m taking the risk. That means I reap the reward.”

Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje for the no. 1 contender?

Khabib disregarded Dana White’s claim that he is looking for somebody to impress him and he might come back. Now with Khabib out of the picture who is going to compete for the title still remains the question.

Justin Gaethje just lost a title fight against Khabib and Oliveira is also on an impressive winning streak, Gaethje also called Oliveira out so this is most probably a fight to make and who knows maybe the winner will be the no.1 contender for the title.
