Dean Henderson has committed his future to Manchester United after signing a new five-year contract. Henderson was on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United for two years. Henderson impressed everyone with his abilities and his form. The Englishmen signs a contract which will keep him with United until June 2025.

Henderson’s impressive performances at Sheffield also saw him called up in the England National Team by Gareth Southgate. David De Gea, the first-choice keeper at United has been poor this season. Many pundits have tipped Henderson to replace De Gea as Old Trafford’s Number 1.

Henderson kept 13 clean sheets in this season’s Premier League. Although Solskjaer has continued to back De Gea, Ole is a big fan of Henderson.

“We are delighted that Dean has signed his new contract. He had another great season at Sheffield United, where he gained a lot of experience and grew both as a player and a person. Dean is a fantastic young keeper with the attitude and work-rate to keep improving every day.”

Solskjaer also gave his thoughts on the choice that he has to make for the starting goalkeeper. He added, “We are in a strong position within the goalkeeping department and that gives us the competition for places that we are looking for. Dean is a player who has come through the academy and truly understands what it means to be at Manchester United.

“We are all looking forward to working with Dean and continuing to develop his talent.”

Henderson, the academy graduate said that he will try to work hard to start for Manchester United. “The pathway that I have been on for the past five years has been fantastic for my development and the invaluable loan period at Sheffield United has been part of that,” added Henderson.

“The goalkeeping department at United is excellent, there are three top-level goalkeepers who have achieved so much in the game and I look forward to working with the group. The faith that the manager and the club have shown in me with this contract means a lot to me and will continue my progression as a goalkeeper.”

“I will be giving everything to improve every day so that I can play as many games as possible for this great club. Now I am looking forward to joining with the England squad and then preparing for the season ahead.”

Chelsea were linked with Dean Henderson previously, as a replacement for Kepa. However, United have now tied him down to a new contract. Potentially, a goalkeeper who can be the starter for years to come.
